School of Education

Goal: Develop a strategic plan that facilitates a DEI vision for the SOE that results in each unit providing evidence they are implementing DEI initiatives in their unit.

Future State

  • The SOE strategic vision has measurable outcomes and timelines to evaluate whether the vision is manifesting across all Centers, departments, offices, and employees in the context of their SOE work.  
  • SOE or JHU deployed climate surveys will yield overall results that demonstrate that at least 80% of SOE employees see evidence of DEI in practice or a commitment to social justice evidenced in the practices and policies employed by the school.  SOE or JHU deployed climate surveys will yield overall results that demonstrate that at least 80% of SOE employees see evidence of DEI in practice or a commitment to social justice evidenced in the practices and policies employed by the school.   
  • SOE is identified as one of the best places to work, by at least 80% of its employees, based on its manifestation of social justice principles and /or DEI metrics.   

Timeline

  • Y1: Create a strategic plan that aligns with the conceptual framework of the Office of Diversity and Faculty Development in conjunction with support for JHU Human Resources office. 
  • Y1: Create professional development sessions based on the Social justice Continuum and the Growth Effectiveness models. 
  • Y1:  Use the findings from the inaugural SOE Equity Audit to inform the creation of the SOE development based on the identified change management strategic plan related to DEI.   
  • Y2: Create professional development based on the identified change management strategy and connect it to the larger SOE strategic plan related to DEI. 
  • Y3-5: Assess progress overall and retool as necessary and set new goals to build upon the success of current goals and their outcomes.
